The leadership of Bentiu University of Petroleum (BUP) paid a courtesy call to the newly appointed Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning of the Republic of South Sudan, Hon. Thok Turuk Thok.
The visit served two purposes: first, to extend the University's heartfelt congratulations to the Minister on his recent appointment; and second, to engage the Ministry as part of the University's ongoing efforts to secure stronger government support for its mission of providing quality higher education in South Sudan.
During the meeting, the BUP delegation briefed the Deputy Minister on the institution's strategic priorities, current academic programs, and the resources needed as the University continues to grow across its Bentiu and Juba campuses. The delegation also reaffirmed BUP's commitment to producing graduates equipped to contribute to South Sudan's development — particularly in the petroleum, technology and environmental sectors.
Hon. Thok Turuk Thok warmly welcomed the visit and commended the University's leadership for its dedication to higher education in South Sudan. He pledged his support and promised to work closely with BUP in the coming months.
The meeting reaffirms BUP's commitment to building strong partnerships with the Government of South Sudan in pursuit of its motto: Knowledge for Peace and Development.
