Environmental Sciences students recently visited one of the seasonal wetlands near Bentiu — a critical habitat in Unity State and a focal point for biodiversity research in South Sudan.

The field trip combined wildlife observation, water sampling, and discussions with local community leaders about sustainable use of the ecosystem. Findings will be used in coursework and may feed into long-term monitoring projects led by BUP faculty.

"Our students need to understand the local realities of conservation," said the field trip coordinator. "Books can teach the theory; the wetland teaches everything else."
