BUP has signed a research and training partnership with key actors of the South Sudanese petroleum sector. The memorandum of understanding sets the framework for joint research projects, guest lectures, and student field placements at production sites in Unity State.
"Our students will graduate with hands-on experience of real operations," explained the dean of the School of Petroleum Engineering. "That's the difference between memorizing a textbook and building a career."
The first cohort of students will visit a production site near Bentiu in the second semester of 2026. The partnership also funds the acquisition of new laboratory equipment for both the Bentiu and Juba campuses.
